Nature is not the backdrop. It's the method.
The Forest School approach has decades of research behind it. Children who spend meaningful time in natural environments develop stronger communication skills, better emotional regulation and greater resilience. They are more curious, more creative, and more confident.
We've seen this with our own eyes, and it's why everything at Wildfox is built around it. That means going outside every single day. It means digging when it's raining. It means letting children take the lead, make mistakes, and work things out. It means trusting them to be capable.
Outside.
every day.
Our ethos.
“A really strong focus on outdoor learning and learning through self initiated play with dedicated practitioners that scaffold our children’s learning”
Our outdoor areas are not just a bit of grass and a slide. They're purposefully designed to reflect the natural world - with spaces for digging, growing, building, hiding, and being still.
Children move freely between indoors and outdoors throughout the day.
We follow the seasons. In autumn, children collect conkers and leaves and build dens. In winter, they study the frost and ice and the quiet world outside. In spring, they plant seeds and watch things grow. In summer, they water, harvest, and cook what they've grown.
This isn't themed activity planning. It's how children understand the world they're part of.
A really strong focus on outdoor learning and learning through self initiated play with our dedicated practitioners that scaffold our children’s learning.
"Being outdoors allows children to connect with nature, promoting health and well-being. The outdoor environment gives children a practical understanding of the world around them. Nature is the best classroom."
WHOLESOME FOOD
Mealtimes at Wildfox Day Nursery are a social occasion. We believe food should be fresh, seasonal, and made with care - because children who eat well concentrate better, feel good, and develop a healthy relationship with food that carries through their lives.
Every meal is prepared on site. Our menus change with the seasons and are built around quality, nutritious ingredients. We introduce children to a wide variety of flavours and dishes from different cultures, but because a genuinely curious eater is a joy.
Where we can, we use produce from our own allotment. Children who have grown a courgette are far more likely to eat one. That connection between growing, cooking, and eating is something we take seriously.
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN YOUR FEES:
All meals and snacks throughout the nursery day
Seasonal menus prepared on site
Allotment-grown produce where available
Dietary requirements and allergies always accommodated
We trust children to be capable. That's the whole thing.
The goal of early childhood education isn't to fill children with information - it's to activate their natural desire to learn. At Wildfox, we get out of the way, set up the right environment, and let them do the rest.
